The Renewal Year
A year-long journey for teachers who are tired of surviving and ready to remember themselves.
For teachers who want more than another self-care checklist.
Here’s your permission slip.
Approved for rest, renewal, and remembering who you are beyond the classroom.
What is The Renewal Year?
The Renewal Year is a nature-based wellness journey designed specifically for educators. It is a small, closed group of teachers committed to their health and wellness practice.
Through seasonal gatherings, mindfulness activities, nervous system education, meaningful conversation, nature connection, reflection, and community support, you'll spend a year learning how to live and teach from a place of integrity rather than depletion.
You’ll be invited to:
Understand your stress patterns and nervous system
01
Release guilt and people-pleasing tendencies
02
Develop sustainable boundaries
03
Cultivate rest, creativity, joy, and ease
04
Build meaningful connections with other educators
05
Feel seen, supported, and understood
06
Reconnect with yourself beyond your role as a teacher
07
Why a Whole Year?
Because burnout didn't happen in a weekend.
And healing rarely does either.
The Renewal Year follows the rhythms of the seasons, allowing time for reflection, integration, practice, and real change.
Instead of a quick burst of inspiration followed by business as usual, you'll have ongoing support throughout the school year.
A Journey Through the Seasons
Rest. Reflection. Inner Wisdom.
Winter invites us inward.
Together we'll explore:
Rest as a practice
Honouring your needs
Nervous system regulation
Deep listening
Trusting your inner knowing
Clearing. Shedding. Boundaries.
As the leaves begin to fall, we'll explore what you're carrying that no longer belongs to you.
Guilt and obligation
Over-responsibility
People pleasing
Boundary setting
Letting go
Creativity. Possibility. Growth.
As life returns to the landscape, we'll reconnect with:
Joy
Creativity
Expansion
Play
Building capacity without forcing
Celebration. Integration. Restoration.
Before the next school year begins, we'll gather to celebrate all that has shifted and grown.
Reflection
Integration
Rest
Celebration
Sustainable rhythms moving forward

Lauren (Lolo) Kessler
Founder of Wild Things Forest
BA, BEd, Certified Forest School Practitioner, RYT 200Lolo has always known she was meant to be a teacher, but only recently has she stepped into that role with true authenticity. Driven by a passion for the forest and an intuitive desire to connect people, she takes pride in bridging those worlds. Nature has been her greatest ally, teacher, and healer, and she feels a deep responsibility to share what she’s learned and help others find peace and connection. She runs multiple weekly yoga sessions, a forest school program, seasonal retreats, and spends time tending to the space at Wild Things Forest. This is her heart’s work and she is thrilled to share it with you!
Jessie Morassut
Jessie has learned through experience what it means to live intentionally and from her intuition. Through her adventures living in different countries, and by continually asking the question, “What feels good to me?”, she has shifted from what she was supposed to do to who she is meant to be. Her passion has always been to help others become the fullest version of themselves, and her teaching now takes place outside of the classroom, where she supports women to restore, empower, and manage their energy so they can shift from surviving to thriving.
Founder of Reconnect BA, BEd, Certified Life Coach, Mindfulness Facilitator, Usui Reiki Levels 1 & 2
Our Story
Jessie and Lauren connected immediately through their shared commitment to enhancing teacher well-being. As former French Immersion teachers for grades K-2 from various districts across the province, they possess a profound understanding of the challenges teachers face, having experienced them firsthand. Their vision of “making a difference” has evolved; they are dedicated to fostering a transformative shift in how teachers navigate their daily lives, focusing on sustainable solutions.

Wild Things Forest
“This was exactly what I needed. I left feeling grounded, seen, heard, and deeply supported. The forest setting, restorative practices, and authentic connections with other teachers created a truly nourishing experience. It was a beautiful reminder of the healing power of nature, community, and self-care.
This experience felt nourishing for the mind, body, and spirit. I highly recommend it to any teacher looking to cultivate more balance and connection!”
